Lily Yeh’s "Obatala" mural, which includes a depiction of Arthur Hall dancing, will be dedicated Sept. 23 in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia — The Village of Arts and Humanities, in collaboration with Lily Yeh and Daryl Kwasi Burgess, will host an Arthur Hall Celebration and "Obatala" mural dedication Sunday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. at the Village of Arts & Humanities, 2544 Germantown Ave.

Those who knew the late Hall, who lived and taught Afro-Caribbean on the Midcoast for many years, is invited to come for music, food, joyful conversation and unscripted testimonials that honor the orisha Obatala, Hall and all members of Ile Ife Black Humanitarian Center. Community artist Yeh's 30th anniversary gift to The Village and community, the “Obatala” mural, includes a revival of Barbara Bullock’s image of “Tree Goddess.”

The project is supported by William Penn Foundation and the Guardians of The Village, with special thanks to muralist Felix St. Fort and Intercultural Journey’s Modupue | Ibaye: The Philadelphia Yoruba Performance Project. For more information, visit or the Facebook event.
