Northport — Recent news from the Northport Golf Club includes:

On Sunday, July 1, in a holiday tournament, the twosomes of Terry Whitney and Jesse Johnson, along with Cliff Randall and Jesse Johnson, Preston Ward and Jake Thompson, as well as Alan Blood and Jake Thompson, tied first gross 68; and the duos of Jeff Dutch and Barry Porter, as well as Duke Marston and Brian Beaulieu, tied first net 56; Larry Quinn and Dick Clements, third net 59; and Jesse Johnson and Mike Knox, fourth net 60.

Jake Thompson finished first gross 70; Jesse Johnson, second gross 72; Preston Ward, third gross 78; Paul Jasienowski, fourth gross 79; Jeff Dutch, first net 64; Dick Clements, second net 65; Cliff Randall, third net 66; and Larry Quinn, fourth net 69.

The pin winners were: Jake Thompson 6-11 on the third hole; Cecil Eastman, 8-9 on the ninth; Brian Beaulieu, 18-0 on the 12th; and Larry Quinn, 21-0 on the 18th.

On Wednesday, June 27, in a scotch foursome, Alex Carroll and Jenna Caler finished first gross 41; Phil Bowen and Joan Bowen, as well as Scott Benzie and Shirley Caler, and Barry McCluskey and Terri Kangas, tied first net 29; Cecil Eastman and Loretta Eastman, fourth net 30; and Bill Pickford and Annie Pickford, fifth net 31.

On Tuesday, June 26, in twilight league play, for Class A, Preston Ward finished first gross 37; Kevin Nickerson and Charlie Pray, tied second gross 39; Rick Cronin, first net 29; Bruce Spaulding, second net 32; and Greg McDaniel and Chris Tibbetts, tied third net 36.

The pin winner was: Greg McDaniel, 20-1 on the ninth.

For Class B, David Riley finished first gross 40; Tony Field, second gross 44; Chip Curry, third gross 46; Brian Beaulieu, first net 30; Bob Barrett, second net 31; and Greg Dutch, third net 34.

The pin winners were: David Riley, 4-6 on the third; and Slim Peaslee 18-6 on the ninth.
