As fall approaches, Winterport Dragway races hot

Winterport — The season may be slowly coming to a close for drag racers at Winterport Dragway, but the action continued to run hot over the weekend.

It was a jam-packed weekend as the Gassah Guys Nostalgia Reunion, T&L Racing Gamblers Point Series and swap meet took over the strip on Saturday, Sept 9.

Then, it was the Salute To America/AMA/Jeep/Rambler Day, a wheel stand contest and full slate of regular bracket racing on Sunday, Sept. 10.

The individual results from the weekend's action included:

Super Pro/Pro Final — 1, Bob Cousins, Brewer; and 2, Russell Calder, Welshpool, N.B.

Super Pro Eliminator — 1, Bob Cousins, Brewer; and 2, Phil French, Orland. Semifinalist: Sean Eori, Albion.

Pro Eliminator — 1, Russell Calder, Welshpool, N.B.; and 2, Jesse Jameson, Sullivan. Semifinalist: Cory Webb, Stonington.

Bikes/Sleds — 1, Paul Keaten, town unavailable; and 2.,Danielle Fusco, Turner. Semifinalists: Jim Marston, Fairfield; and Jeff Fanjoy, Corinna.

Street Eliminator — 1, Jamie Madison, Canton; and 2, Tim Wilcox, Easton. Semifinalist: Dan Poirier, Minot .

Junior Dragster — 1,Jaylee Soucy, Monmouth; and 2, Tyler Beaulieu, Saco. Semifinalist: Kerrigan Shorey, Lamoine.

T&L Gamblers Race — 1, Mike Bradford, Lamoine; and 2, Jesse Jameson, Sullivan. Semifinalist: Sean Eori, Albion.
