Attention all female veterans!

Jan 09, 2019

The Women in Military Service for America Memorial wants you to register your legacy of service. Founded in 1997, this is the only national memorial honoring all servicewomen ― past, present and future ― who have served or are serving in the U.S. armed forces, from the American Revolution through present day.

As your Maine ambassador for the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, I am working with the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services to help spread the word statewide about the importance of registering, whether it is the veteran herself or a family member submitting the registration. It is vital to record this very important part of Maine's and our nation's history.

I’m challenging all Maine communities, including historical societies, libraries, town offices, churches, veteran organizations and others, to help connect with women veterans and the families of those who have passed away to ensure their legacy of military service is recorded on their memorial for free.

You can register online for inclusion in the Women's Memorial at https://www.womensmemorial.org. Call me at 930-5640 or email joyasuncion@roadrunner.com if you would prefer to receive a paper registration form.

Maine's female veterans can also connect with me by asking to join my Facebook group called Maine Women Veterans.

Honor the women who have served or are serving our country. Don't delay ― register today!
