Author potluck in Monroe

Monroe — Matthew P. Mayo, award-winning author of 30-plus books and dozens more short stories, will speak about his newest book, “Stranded: A Story of Frontier Survival,” at a potluck dinner Saturday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the downstairs community room of Monroe Community Church, 28 West Main St./Route 139. The event is sponsored by Monroe Community Library.

Mayo’s novel “Tucker’s Reckoning” won the Western Writers of America’s Spur Award for Best Western Novel; and his short stories have been Spur Award and Peacemaker Award finalists. He has been an on-screen expert for popular TV series about lost treasure in the American West; and has had three books optioned for film. An Eagle Scout, Mayo is a member of Western Writers of America; Western Dictioneers; the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators; and Grizzly Boxers Anonymous.
