BAHS outdoor summer workouts start July 6

By Staff | Jun 29, 2020

Belfast — Belfast Area High School will start an outdoor summer training program on Monday, July 6, announced new Lion athletic director Matt Battani.

The workouts will be Monday through Friday, July 6-17 from 7 to 8 a.m. on the school football field and track.

Returning BAHS student-athletes and incoming freshmen may participate in the program, Battani said.

This will be general conditioning and strength training workouts to reconnect student-athletes and coaches and to begin preparation for the fall sports seasons.

The workouts will be voluntary and limited to one hour per day. Student-athletes will train in groups (pods) of 10 or fewer for the first two weeks and the "pods" must not change during that time.

Athletes will be required to maintain safe physical distancing and other safety guidelines in accordance with the Maine Principals' Association.

The second phase of training will begin on Monday, July 20. More details will be posted on the school website.

Battani takes over for longtime educator/athletic administrator Terry Kenniston, who retired at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
