BAHS students to visit Costa Rica in 2015

Apr 29, 2014

A group of very excited Belfast Area High School students and some parents are traveling to Costa Rica at the end of June, 2015. The trip is an adventure, eco-tour and community service project. Students will have the opportunity to see an active volcano and sit in hot springs; visit the famous Monteverde cloud rainforest and complete a tour of the canopy via a zipline; kayak; hike; plant a tree in a biological reserve; horseback ride; visit a local school and donate some supplies for the children; and spend time on the beach on the Pacific Ocean side of the country. Our group will have a trained local tour guide to lead us in a thrilling and unique educational experience in Central America.

In order to help defray the cost of our learning experience and adventure the Quirk Ford Dealership on Main Street in Belfast, Maine is helping to sponsor our trip by holding a Drive 4Your school event on Saturday, May 3. We ask community members to come have fun driving a new car, and support the unique experience. For every person who drives a car, Ford Motor Company donates $20 to the trip. Your gift of a little time to drive a car helps a student afford to take this travel opportunity. There is no obligation associated with test-driving, but the company does this to help school groups. The students are very grateful for local community support!

Belfast students up to 20 years old and adults are welcome to join our tour. Please see Mrs. Ballard at Belfast Area High School or call at 338-1790 ext. 226 for more information. Online information is at
