Baseball, softball umpire classes scheduled for Midcoast

By Staff | Jan 15, 2020

The Midcoast Umpire Association of Maine (MUA), which has served Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties since 1956, will provide training for new members, or individuals looking to learn more about the games of baseball or softball.

The association assists with providing professional, quality officiating to area baseball and softball teams, grades seven through 12, said Chris Barstow.

Training and education are provided by veteran umpires using hands-on, online, visual and written study resources, he said.

New member sessions for baseball are scheduled beginning Thursday, Feb. 27. Softball training sessions will be scheduled in March, based on the availability of interested candidates.

To register, go to midcoastumpires.com under the “Join Us” section, or email Barstow at crbarstow@gmail.com.
