Belfast Chapter 1434 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will host its 5th annual Airport Open House and Fly In on Saturday September 14th (rain date the 15th) from 7:30 am until 3 pm at the Belfast Municipal Airport on Wright Brothers Drive.

Admission is free.

Many aviation related community service and educational organizations will be represented showcasing to the public the value of their local airport and the many ways it serves their community.

Breakfast is from 7:30 – 10 and it includes eggs, pancakes with Maine blueberries,  sausage, juice, and coffee, all for $7. For lunch there will be burgers, and hot dogs provided by Cub Scout Pack 39, the Chef on the Run food truck and the Stone Fox Creamery ice cream truck will be scooping happiness.

A Powered Parachute demonstration will start off the morning and airplanes from throughout the U.S. will be flying in including many homebuilts and there will also be static displays of various aircraft.

Additionally, helicopter rides (for a fee) and free, Young Eagle airplane rides for kids ages 8 – 17 will be offered (parental permission required).

In the past over 50 airplanes from as far away as Kentucky have flown in and over 400 pounds of lobsters were flown home.

Come out and get close to the airplanes, talk to the pilots or find out what it takes to build your own airplane or learn to fly.

This is a great family event.
