Belfast area peewee football in jeopardy if others do not come forward

Longtime organizers Dyers will step away due to health reasons

Belfast — The longstanding Belfast Area peewee football program is in jeopardy of being discontinued if a person or group do not emerge to keep the league going.

Lewis Dyer Jr. and Margo Dyer have carried much of the load for organizing the program in recent years, but, for health reasons, they both must step away from the league.

The Dyers are looking to see if anyone in the community is interested in keeping the league active.

Margo said the program is a non-travel league for children ages 8 to 13.

"Unfortunately, due to medical reasons," she said, the Dyers are unable to continue organizing and coaching.

If interested in the program, call 338-3180. If there is no interest, "we will discontinue the league, sell the equipment and donate the funds to youth sports of our choice," Margo said.

Margo said if there is no interest the shut down process will start on Thursday, Aug. 24.
