Belfast drops competitive match with Winslow

Winslow — The Belfast girls tennis team picked up its first win at the end of April and the Lions hit the road on Monday, May 6 in search of their second victory, but fell in that quest 3-2 to the Black Raiders in a competitive high school match.

The following is a recap of the reported result:

At Winslow May 6, the Black Raiders edged the Lions.

The individual results, with Lion players listed first, were: In singles, Madison Farris beat Juliann Lapierre, 8-2; Clarisse Stradtman lost to Desiree Veilleux, 4-8; and Emily Woods lost to Elizabeth Farnham, 3-8.

In doubles, Jasmine Cunningham and Caitlin Maddocks lost to Elyse St. Pierre and Haley Twitchell, 4-8; and Sarah Woods and Sadie Wheeler beat Lydia McCann and Suzy Bryan, 8-5.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Belfast (1-4, 2.6389 points) is 10th, while Erksine Academy of South China (5-0, 29.7222 points) is first in the 18-team region. The top 12 team qualify for the playoffs.
