BELFAST — The Belfast Maskers present “An Evening with Michael Toner” on Saturday, July 27, at 7 p.m., at Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court St. Toner will present a staged reading from the one-man play “Beginning to End,” adapted from the writings of Samuel Beckett.

Toner has been acting, directing and specializing in Irish theatre for more than 40 years. He is member of Actor’s Equity and his most recent roles include playing Phil Hogan in Eugene O'Neill’s “A Moon for the Misbegotten” for Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia (with national tour). He has also performed in nearly a dozen plays and musicals at that same theater.

Toner met the Belfast Masker’s founder, Basil Burwell, when they were both performing with the Irish Players in Philadelphia. After Basil founded The Maskers in 1986, Toner was a yearly summer visitor to Belfast, where he taught workshops and directed for the theater company. He continues to visit during the summer and meet with Masker friends from “the old days.” After a recent visit with Maskers’ Artistic Director Meg Nickerson, Toner says he is delighted to do a benefit to aid the newly rejuvenated group.

Tickets can be purchased online at or at the door for $12 per person. For more information, contact Nickerson at
