Belfast — Belfast police officers nabbed three suspected drunk drivers during the first couple of days of the month.

Police Chief Mike McFadden said the first drunk driving arrest occurred May 1 after police received a call from a complainant about a potential road-rage incident. McFadden said the complainant called police at 11 p.m. who was driving in the area of Poors Mill Road.

The complainant attempted to change direction a number of times and each time, the vehicle behind the complainant also changed direction and continued to follow the complainant. McFadden said the driver of the offending vehicle, Joshua Allen Salisbury- Pomeroy, 22, of Belfast, also taunted the complainant and threw items at the complainant's vehicle.

McFadden said Sgt. Brian Lunt stopped Salisbury-Pomeroy's vehicle and noticed “several indicators” that the man was intoxicated. Lunt administered field sobriety tests before arresting Salisbury-Pomeroy and charging him with operating under the influence.

The second arrest occurred during the early morning hours of May 3 when Officer Travis Spencer observed a suspected intoxicated woman walking to her vehicle. Spencer approached the woman, Rebecca Green, 24, of Searsport, and advised her she should not attempt to drive home, McFadden said.

Spencer then offered Green and another person with her a ride home or to arrange for a ride home. However, Green refused the offers, McFadden said.

About 30 minutes later, Spencer saw Green drive off and subsequently stopped the vehicle. He charged Green with operating under the influence and operating after suspension.

The third incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m. on May 3 after a vehicle drove off the road in the vicinity of Belfast Variety on High Street, McFadden said.

The driver of the vehicle, Marian H. Fletcher, 52, of Belfast, was not injured, but when Officer Rick Smith arrived on scene, he detected an odor of alcohol on Fletcher's breath, McFadden said.

Smith arrested Fletcher and charged her with operating under the influence and operating without a license.
