Belfast police blotter

Jun 25, 2020

Belfast — The Belfast Police Department reported two speeding violations, one registration violation and the following recent activity:

June 20

Nicholas J. Salvatore, 20, of Morrill, failure to give notice of a crash by quickest means, accident involving injury, driving to endanger and failure to maintain control.

According to Deputy Dean Jackson of the Belfast Police Department, in the early hours of Saturday, June 20, an off-duty officer observed a crash at the intersection of Smart Road and Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville. Only one car was involved and, according to police, the driver lost control and hit a road sign. After the crash, the car was pulled back onto the road by several people and the incident was not reported.

The police later responded to a Back Searsport Road address for a person with a head injury, who was taken to the hospital. Police determined it was Salvatore driving the vehicle and the injured person was the passenger. Police believe Salvatore was doing donuts when he lost control and hit a sign. The car sustained major damage.

June 17

Brett Hayward, 47, of Northport, violating conditions of release, driving to endanger, operating left of solid yellow line, imprudent speed and failure to maintain control of vehicle.

Isaac Wright, 43, of Belfast, criminal mischief.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
