Belfast splits midweek tri-meet matches

Lions take down Gardiner, but fall to Erskine Academy

South China — Belfast wrestlers improved their 2018 dual-meet record to .500 after they wrangled a high school mat split on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Erskine Academy.

The Lions won the lone individual match against Hall-Dale of Farmingdale and also took down Gardiner 48-18. However, Belfast fell to the hosts 60-21.

The individual Belfast results, with Lions listed first, were:

132 pounds — Wyatt Staples was pinned by Michael Sprague, EA; and won by forfeit over Gardiner.

138 pounds — Chase Curry pinned Joseph Morse, EA; and pinned James Rinderknecht, Gar.

145 pounds — Elijah Charbonnier was pinned by Brock Glidden, EA; and won by forfeit over Gardiner.

152 pounds — Patrick Curtis won by decision over William Bourque, EA; and pinned Dana Purington, Gar.

160 pounds — David Warren pinned Haeden Landry, EA; and won by forfeit over Gardiner.

170 pounds — David Warren pinned Trae Muzima, HD.

182 pounds — Jason Norwood was pinned by Justin Browne, EA; and won by forfeit over Gardiner.

220 pounds — Brian White won by forfeit over Erskine Academy and Gardiner.

285 pounds — Cameron Watts was pinned by Jakob Peavey, EA; and won by forfeit over Gardiner.
