Belfast — High Street was awash in people attending the 11th annual Belfast Summer Street Party Monday evening.

The weather was perfect to sit and enjoy the rock-n-roll favorites of Captain Obvious in front of City Hall or grab a partner and start moving to groove.

The "party of the summer" descended on Belfast at 5 p.m. and went on until 10, with many hardy partygoers staying through to the end.

A big favorite for kids was a mechanical bronco ride, challenging riders to stay upright while the bull zigs, zags, dips and turns.

Other activities for kids included bungee jumping, a rock climbing wall, a big inflatable slide, a bounce house and face painting.

Artisan Pasco Grove demonstrated his chainsaw talent by masterfully cutting a new city bench from just a log.

And, as if by magic, High Street Tuesday morning looked exactly like it did before the party, thanks to a team of well-organized volunteers.

This is my 3rd street party and it definitely is getting better each year. I just wish there were more food trucks and food vendors available. Maybe some of the food vendors from the United Farmers Market can be recruited to join next year. Growing up, I loved cotton candy, candy apples, fried dough, fresh pretzels with mustard and other carnival type foods.
