Belmont man charged with OUI after two-vehicle crash

Belmont — A two-vehicle collision on Route 3 in Belmont Wednesday, Feb. 5, ended with one driver being charged with operating under the influence.

Waldo County Sheriff's deputies responded to Route 3 in Belmont at 7:14 p.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash. The driver of a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck, Joshua T. Black, of Belfast, was driving west when Daniel A. Gerry, of Belmont, driving a 2004 Toyota pickup attempted to turn left into B&M Market, according to the crash report.

Black was unable to stop on the snow covered roads and struck Gerry's pickup on the center passenger side. Black's vehicle sustained damage to the front-end. Neither driver was injured as a result of the crash.

According to the crash report, a passenger in Gerry's vehicle fled before deputies arrived. Gerry was charged with operating under the influence.
