Donald Berry of Belmont received the James Grey Award at the USA Track & Field National Conference earlier this month in Columbus, Ohio.

The award is presented by the National Officials Committee in recognition by his peers for excellence and achievement by an individual who provides leadership, sets an example and goes out of his/her way to help in the development of others in the USATF Officials organization.

A master level referee in the organization, Berry has officiated for over 40 years and has served on the National Officials Committee as its parliamentarian for the last 20 years.

He has officiated at the last two Olympic trials and the IAAF World Youth Championship at Eugene, Oregon.

Here in Maine, Berry serves as the Officials Certification chair for USATFME and as the officials' liaison on the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Committee at the Maine Principals Association.
