Welcome Home to Chestnut Street Baptist Church!

Blind -  Adam Kohlstrom

Luke 18:31-19:10

18:31. God fulfilled in Christ what He promised through the prophets-of-old (Luke 24:44; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20). How does this highlight the importance of knowing all that the Scriptures teach? How does the perfect promise-keeping of God increase your confidence in His power, control, and faithfulness?

In these accounts, who was blind to Jesus’ mission (18:34, 18:39, 19:7)? Who accurately “saw” Jesus (18:38; 19:3)? What should we learn from this?

18:15; 18:39; 19:7. What kind of attitude is evident in these three instances? Do you think we are ever guilty of doing similarly? How?

18:38-39. What does the title “Son of David” teach about Jesus (2 Samuel 7:12-13; 2 Timothy 2:8)? How is it significant that the blind man used this title?

The man’s need seemed obvious, so why did Jesus ask: “What do you want me to do for you?”

How would you answer Jesus: “What do you want me to do for you?”

19:5. Where did Jesus first find you? How did He invite you to join Him?

19:5. Why do you think Jesus invited himself to Zacchaeus’ house for dinner? What do you think they talked about over dinner?

19:8. How does the response of wealthy Zacchaeus to Jesus compare to the response of the rich young ruler (18:22-23)? Why the different response?

19:6,8. Zacchaeus’ actions did not earn him salvation but demonstrate he had embraced Jesus’ offer of salvation. Why is this distinction important?

19:9. Jesus declares Zacchaeus a “son of Abraham.” What does he mean by this (see Romans 4:12; Galatians 3:7)? How might we become children of Abraham (see Galatians 3:26-29)?

19:10. Practically, this week how can you join with Jesus in His continuing mission “to seek and to save the lost.”
