This bridge in Ducktrap River Preserve, Lincolnville, has been deemed unsafe

Lincolnville — After 15 years of providing a safe way to cross the Ducktrap River in the Coastal Mountains Land Trust Ducktrap River Preserve, the sagging bridge has been deemed unsafe and is now closed.

In its February newsletter, the land trust reports that the Ducktrap River trail is still open, and the out-and-back to the bridge remains open for winter hikes.

The bridge was built in 2005 by the Maine Conservation Corps with hemlock stringers (base support) and cedar decking.

"Stay tuned for updates on repairs," the newsletter says. "Sorry for the disruption."
