Broadreach names new executive director

Belfast — Broadreach Family & Community Services Board announced July 5 that Todd Goodwin has been named executive director.

“Todd comes to us with extensive experience in community-based social services and program delivery,” said Broadreach Chairman Sharon Goguen in a press release. “He is returning to the Midcoast following years in southern Maine. Our board is excited to have Todd join our organization.”

Goodwin is an experienced nonprofit leader with background in child welfare, behavioral health, disabilities and addictions. Focusing on quality service and responsible stewardship, he welcomes opportunities for building coalitions and partnerships to strengthen locally the social safety net, according to the press release.

"My life work has been spent in the helping professions,” he said. “At Broadreach, I look forward to leading a dedicated staff devoted to assisting all members of our community to reach their full potential.”

Born and raised in Iowa, Goodwin settled in Maine in 2004 after serving at-risk children and families in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of Iowa and received his MA from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is a former CEO of Mid-Coast Mental Health Center in Rockland, where he served in that role from 2009 to 2012. Most recently, he worked as a private consultant.

Broadreach Family & Community Services is a nonprofit organization serving individuals and families in Midcoast Maine since 1983. Programs offered include early childhood education services for children ages 2 ½ to 5, Youthlinks after-school programs for middle and high school students, and prevention programs to strengthen families. Broadreach preschool programs are nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
