Greetings.

I hope everyone had a great week and that you're planning on seeing "Gypsy" at the Marsh River Theater this coming weekend. The show runs Oct. 18 and 19, and 25 and 26, so you will have the opportunity to see it the following weekend as well.

The story of Momma Rose and her daughters June and Louise is set — shall we say — uniquely this time and features some great performances, costumes and sets. Directed by Mike Switzer, the doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Call the box office at 722-4110 for more information.

Please mark your calendars and plan to participate in the "Carbon Cessation Round Table" at the Marsh River Co-op on Saturday, Oct. 26. All are encouraged to participate in a discussion of how each of us can reduce our individual carbon footprint. Share experiences, ideas and bring your questions. Discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Questions? Call Ed Hamel, 323-1804.

Reminders: Upcoming events — Brooks annual Trunk or Treat on Halloween night (Thursday, Oct. 31), and Varney Ladies Fellowship Craft Fair and raffles Saturday, Nov. 16. More information to follow on both activities.

While Ralph's Cafe is not serving dinner at this time, you can still come in for a delicious doughnut (or a dozen) on Thursdays, Show up early, as they sell out fast.

Spotlight on a Brooks resident is a little different this time. May I present "Judy Brossmer" by Judy Brossmer:

At the end of March 1984, we celebrated the purchase of our property in Brooks and on Memorial Day weekend in 1984 we moved into a makeshift space to camp out in while building a house. It looked like the Clampetts had landed! Dogs, cats, goats, chickens, three humans and a ton of stuff had suddenly landed.

A lot of questions are asked regarding my likes and dislikes, my hopes and dreams and of course, what I might or might not be able to do! OK so I'll tell you in a nutshell the answers to those questions. Any pizza is fine with me as long as it's good. As a matter of fact that's how I feel about anything I eat. Whenever I sit down to a meal, I always think it's my favorite kind of food. Mostly that's because I prepare most of the meals I eat and I am a wicked good cook! Just ask me!

As an Aquarian, I'm supposed to be free-spirited and eccentric. I don't know if I really am. I do know I love to laugh and have a good time and I love people. My favorite movie would be "Airplane" and I don't have a favorite song. Songs are like food — If they're good, I like them. Music and cooking are tops on my list of things I enjoy doing.

I thought it was odd that you wanted to know what my dream job might be, something about tattoos, my favorite pets and could I drive a stick. These are rather personal questions, but I will try to entertain them. My dream was always to work in a tattoo parlor, cover myself with stylish tattoos and fly in on my broomstick with my faithful cat, Felix!

Hopefully you all know me a little better and know that I love the fact that this is where I landed to claim as home.
