Greetings! The Holiday Craft Fair sponsored by the Varney Ladies Fellowship will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Varney Memorial Building, 22 Veterans Highway. Come early for coffee, tea and muffins. Buy chances for 19 different themed baskets (choose the ones you would like to win). There are baskets full of tools, chocolate, laundry supplies and much more.

Lunch is corn chowder, hot dogs, chips and beverages. Purchase raffle tickets for 16 items including three bicycles and gift certificates. Get cookies for the holidays, fudge, quick breads, ornaments, crafts and gifts — something for everyone. For more information, call Susan Gnatek at 322-0310. Hope to see you there.

Waldo County Republicans invite you to a "Thankful for America" potluck dinner on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Freedom Congregational Church. Bring a dish to share and your family and/or neighbors. Entertainment by John Tercyak will start off the event.

Eric Brakey, candidate for the House of Representatives from Maine's District 2, will attend, and possibly others. Silent auction and 50/50. By having the event in Freedom, we hope to meet more of our northern Waldo County members. Call Janet Plausse 789-5811 to help coordinate food.

The Marsh River Theater presents "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Varney Memorial Building, 22 Veterans Highway. A great start to the holiday season! Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children and include dessert and beverages. A perennial favorite story, but with a twist — this time it's set in the era of old time radio broadcasts. Every time a bell rings, an angel gets her wings.

A little early, but don't forget the annual Brooks Community Thanksgiving Dinner (also held at the Varney). It's on Thanksgiving day beginning at 1 p.m. More information to follow.
