Brooks News

By Melissa McDonald | Mar 13, 2020

Greetings. I hope everyone had a good (and healthy) week. In light of all the news regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, all I can do is share the dates of some upcoming events which are now tentative. Use common sense — there's no need to panic (like the elderly man I encountered at the check-out line in Hannaford with nine large jugs of Clorox bleach in his cart).

Upcoming events

Thursday, March 19 - First day of spring (definitely happening).

Saturday, March 21 - Annual town meeting 1 p.m. at the Varney Building.

Saturday, March 28 - Afternoon drumming gathering at the Jackson Library, 2:30-4 p.m.

Saturday, April 4 - Retirement party for Donna Shute, 2-4 p.m. at the Varney Building.

I'll provide more information about these events as they approach, but please save the dates.

Susan Champa's adventures in Ecuador

Side Trip - "It rained on our Galapagos trip, but we saw turtles and blue-footed boobies. We hiked on slippery, muddy trails with horse flies the size of small birds. Glad I did this now because by the time I'm 80 it would probably kill me."
