The first meeting for EMA volunteers was held at the Brooks Fire Department. Good information and a lot of great ideas were presented. Please check out the Facebook page, Brooks Maine EMA, and the town website. Updates and further information will be posted there, and you can find out how you can help.

It's vitally important that communities pull together in the event of emergencies (ice storms and power outages come to mind), as it's likely that the Fire Department will be responding to calls.

It's that time of year again! The Common Ground Country Fair is held Sept. 20, 21 and 22 in Unity. Gates open at 9 a.m. There is so much to see and do, and I know many of you are expecting guests from away. More info at MOFGA.org. Can't wait!

The Brooks Historical Society is holding an open house on Sunday, Sept. 22. It takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pilley Museum and Menard Barn, 11 Moosehead Trail Highway. Crafters will be onsite giving demonstrations, and as always, refreshments on the porch.
