Capt. Nickels Inn continues fireworks tradition

By Fran Gonzalez | Jun 30, 2020

Searsport — Fireworks will blaze the sky on the Fourth of July from the Captain Nickels Inn at sunset.

According to inn owner Dawn Gintz, they are "absolutely" doing fireworks on the edge of their back lawn on Saturday. The inn is completely sold out, she said, but fireworks should be visible from other sites.

The innkeepers will hosts a picnic-style get-together on their 3-acre property for their guests starting around 5:30 p.m., serving beer and wine, along with ice cream from Stone Fox Farm Creamery and featuring lawn games.

Gintz said Maine CDC guidelines limit guests to 50 people on the premises.

In Searsport people will have a good view from Sears Island, Mosman Park and the public beach on Navy Street, and Gintz hopes the display will be visible from as far away as Northport and Islesboro.
