Cecil N. Armstrong Jr.

Nov 21, 2019

Belfast — Cecil (Zeke) Armstrong Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Belfast to go home to the Lord Nov. 12, 2019. He was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Belfast, son of Cecil and Erma (Murch) Armstrong.

He graduated from Crosby High School in 1959 and enlisted in the  Army. Upon returning home, he met and married Dianne Hamilton Brown and they began to raise their seven children together. They were married for 41 years until her passing in 2005.

He was a wonderful provider, working several jobs at a time for many years. He was employed at Mollison Lumber, was a longshoreman at the Searsport docks, a bus driver  and mechanic for MSAD 34. He owned and operated Armstrong Roofing until his retirement in 2005. He loved his family and cherished little kids. He enjoyed hunting, boating and old cars (especially Fords), because they were "cooler than school," and he wintered in Florida. He attended the First Baptist Church, Little River Baptist Church and was a member of Crossroads Community Baptist Church in Lincolnville.

Cecil's Bible was randomly opened  to the underlined verse Ephesians 4:30-32 on the day of his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Belfast and Brooksville, Fla.; his six children, Ralph Brown and wife Deborah of Winterport, Glenn Brown and wife Marilyn of Benton, Tina Bowden and husband Richard of Waldo, Cheryl Peckham, Mitchell Brown and wife Marcia and Michael Brown of Belfast; four brothers, Leon and wife Pam of Knox, Donald and wife Gloria of Waldo, Dale and wife Jan of Belfast and Brett of Swanville. He leaves many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; several cousins, nieces and nephews and greats.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Erma; three sisters, Velma, Leona and Josephine; a daughter, Dawn Brown Allenwood; and a great-grandson.

Our thanks to Dr. Mazur, Judy, Drs. Lindsley and Keiski, V.A. Togus as well as Private Home Care Workers, Beacon Hospice and FNY.

In honor of his request, there will be no visiting hours. Interment and graveside services will be held at Smart Cemetery in Belfast, time and date to be announced.
