Cheryl Grant

Nov 14, 2017

Cheryl W. Grant, 68, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Nov. 11, 2017, after a brief but hard-fought battle with illness.

Cheryl was widely respected within her field as a tax accountant through her years of dedication to her clients while working in the Bangor area at Brooks and Carter CPA, Ray Adams and Associates, Bagley and Grant and, finally, Williams and Associates. She considered a great many of her clients to be friends. She enjoyed reading, quiet time at her camp on Chemo Pond and traveling, especially to Arizona. She was, and is, known for her hard work, generous nature, liberal politics and caring advice. But most of all she will be remembered for the enjoyment and love she had for spending time with her “precious family.”

Cheryl enjoyed serving her community during her life. She served as past treasurer for the Maine Democratic Party. She also served on the board for the Chemo Pond Camp Owners Association. And she was very involved with the annual Chapin Park (Bangor) Block Party, among many others.

Cheryl Lynette Work was born in Belfast on March 11, 1949, the daughter of Hervey Jerome Work and Jeanette Marilyn (Davis) Work of Brooks. She attended school in the Brooks area and was a 1967 graduate of Mt. View High School.

Cheryl is survived by her loving son Erik Christopher, his wife Sonja Renee and her adoring grandson Alexander Christopher of Gilbert, Ariz. She is also survived by her mother, Jeanette of Brooks; her sisters Cherdelle Jennings and husband Paul of Greer, S.C., and Colleen Lenfest of Eddington; her brother Craig H. Work of Brooks; her four nephews; and her lifelong best friends Dennis Humphrey of Brookline, Mass., and Andrea Lucien of Old Town.

Cheryl was pre-deceased by her father, Hervey as well as her brother Christopher.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life is being planned by her family for early summer 2018, to be held at the family camp on Chemo Pond in Bradley. Family and invited friends will be notified of the exact date and time. Those who wish to remember Cheryl in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, 37615 U.S. Highway 60, Superior, AZ 85173.

I love you more than you will ever know Mom.
