Cinderella Project of Maine to hold free prom dress giveaways in January, April

Jan 12, 2019

Belfast — The Cinderella Project of Maine again will give away prom dress in both Belfast and Gardiner this year. However, the two locations will offer the giveaways at different times of year.

The Belfast giveaway will take place in April, with the date and location to be announced closer to the giveaway date.

The Gardiner giveaway will take place Saturday, Jan. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. at Gardiner Area High School.

Gowns are free to all Maine high school students in need of a dress for prom with one stipulation: that they promise to pay the favor forward in some way by doing something nice for someone else in their community.

It’s not too late to donate a dress to the Cinderella Project of Maine ― dresses are accepted until the day of the last giveaway. Dress donations are accepted at any Day’s Jewelers store in Maine. For additional dress drop-off locations, visit

For more information, contact Amanda Simmons at 338-6809 or visit The Cinderella Project of Maine at or on Facebook.

The Cinderella Project of Maine is a project of Waldo Community Actions Partners, a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Belfast. Donations are tax-deductible.
