Oct 08, 2018

Belfast — The public is invited to attend a candidates’ forum to hear from residents running for Belfast City Council in the upcoming election. The forum will take place Monday, Oct. 22, starting at 7 p.m. at the Belfast Boathouse, 34 Commercial St.

Vying for council seats are, in Ward 1, incumbent Councilor Mary Mortier and write-in challenger Ellie Daniels; in Ward 2, incumbent Councilor Neal Harkness and challenger Joanne Moesswilde (on the ballot); and in Ward 5, Paul Dean (on the ballot) and write-in challenger Jim Merkel.

Note that Belfast voters elect councilors for all wards, not just those running in the ward in which they live.

Belfast Community Radio (WBFY 100.9 FM and belfastcommunityradio.org) and Belfast Community Television (BCTV belfastcommunitytv.org) will record the event and broadcast it several times before the election Tuesday, Nov. 6.
