Clement Pope

Clement L. Pope, 91, of Belfast formerly of Salisbury, Mass., passed away Oct. 9, 2017, at home surrounded by family. Clem was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of Chester and Josephine (LeBelle) Pope.

He moved to Maine in 1983 and settled in Belfast. He was the co-owner of Discount Paving. Clem enjoyed horse racing and was an avid Red Sox fan. His giving nature was evident in his generosity to many charities.

He is predeceased by his parents; wife Ruth, and son Blackie.

Clem is survived by his beloved children and step-children Clement L. Pope Jr. of California, Howie Pope of New Hampshire, James King of Farmington, Fred Cameron of Jackson, and Theresa Cameron of Belmont; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, on Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at ripostafh.com.
