Climate? Weather? What's the difference?

Prospect — Bill Sneed, a climate researcher at the University of Maine in Orono, will explain the science underpinning our climate in a talk Monday, July 9, at the Prospect Community Center.

How does climate affect weather? How does heat concentrated at the equator get dispersed around the world, making it possible to grow a tomato in Maine?

This talk might involve a fragment of physics, a minute amount of of math, but it is guaranteed to make the attendee a dite smarter about how our planet works. Sneed claims “there are no stupid questions,” so make a list and see if you can stump him.

Presented by the Prospect Historical Society, the program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Community Center is located at 959 Bangor Road. For more information, call Jenn at 567-3170.
