Yes, that's right! The rivers are opening up and water levels are good! So come out and paddle or come watch us from the shore as the 32nd annual St George River Race gets underway this Saturday starting at 11 am. There'll be plenty of kayakers as well as canoeists racing the roughly 6 miles of water from Searsmont Village to Appleton (Route 105). This race is not for the novice paddler as there is a long section of class II-III rapids but always a great event for all ages. And be sure to join us for the Passie River Race scheduled on the following Sat, Apr 2 also at 11 am. For more information or to register contact the Waldo County YMCA at 338-4598 or go to

And be sure to stop by Maine Sport Outfitters for all of your cold water paddling needs. We're well stocked and professionaly staffed. Drop in on us soon so we can help you get outdoors this Spring season.
