Community celebration in Freedom

Nov 28, 2018

Freedom — In celebration of Katherine Cross’ birthday, Freedom Community Historical Society is sponsoring several holiday-inspired events Sunday, Dec. 9, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the village. All events are free.

The fun starts with a community tree lighting at the historical Keen Hall, at the intersection of Main Street and Route 137. A potluck will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Dirigo Grange Hall, 32 Belfast Road/Route 137.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a community contra dance, also at the grange. John McIntire will call, and the duo of fiddler Maisy Newell and guitarist Eric Dayan will fuel the tunes. At intermission, birthday ice cream cake from John’s will be served.
