Cornerspring graduates four sixth-graders

Jul 08, 2019

Belfast — Families and friends of Cornerspring Montessori School gathered at Belfast Boathouse recently to celebrate the end of the school year and honor the  69 students in the school's toddler, preschool, kindergarten and elementary programs, four of them graduating from the upper elementary program.

Sixth-graders Tigerlily Curtis, Adler Michaud-Griswold, Adam Tomalty and Judson Thomas gave graduation speeches at the June 7 ceremony, highlighting memories since preschool and lessons they’ve learned as Cornerspring students.

“Here at Cornerspring I have learned so many things that are very important for life," Judson Thomas said, citing examples, including "... how I was taught to organize my day to get all of my work done and finish my projects by the due dates so I could have more privileges like going to a longer recess."

All four graduates plan to attend Cornerspring’s new middle school program in September. The program is designed for students 12 to 14 in a personalized setting with a strong connection to nature and the community.

Cornerspring was founded in 2001 and moved into its new high-efficiency, solar-powered building in 2017. Situated on more than 35 acres of woodlands, Cornerspring offers a wealth of opportunities for nature-based education.
