Country View hosts Northport in women's scramble

Men's league, mixed scramble events also held

Brooks — The following is recent news from the Country View Golf Club:

On Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, the club hosted Northport Golf Club in a women's scramble. Two golfers from each club teamed to challenge other mixed club pairings by card draw. It was the first time many of the Northport golfers had played at Country View.

After golf, players had lunch together at Ralph's Restaurant in Brooks.

"Thanks to the Northport ladies group for playing at Country View," said Sharon Todd. "We hope to make it an annual event."

The women's results included: Donna Short, Sharon Todd, Brenda Barrett and Sharon Dehayes finished first at 32, with 12 putts; Doris Cowell, Bobbie Grotton, Annie Pickford and Janet White, second at 34, with 10 putts; Henna Smith, Joette Fields and Vicki Conover, third at 35, with 14 putts; Jean Raven, Nancy Carney, Veronica Westbo and Sue Gordon, fourth at 36, with 11 putts; Susan Hart, Donna Nason, Pat Wood and Jean Templeton, fifth at 38, with 13 putts; and Judy Arsenault, Linda Potter, Jeanne Tuttle and Betty Miesfeldt, sixth at 42, with 17 putts.

The pin winners were: Sharon Todd, 12-3 on the fourth hole; and Janet White, 12-4 on the ninth.

On Friday, Sept. 1, in men's league play (points in relation to quota) the top five were: 1, John Cushman, +5; 2, Gary Snowden, +2; 3,  Mike Cunningham and Vince Bryant, tied at even; and 5, John Merry, -1.

The pin winners were: John Cushman, 18-0 on the fourth and 29-9 on the ninth.

On Sunday, Sept. 3, in a mixed scramble, Keith Todd, Sharon Todd and Gary Snowden finished first at 34, with 12 putts; and John Lynam, Gary Birkbeck and Adam Way, second at 35, with 13 putts.

In other club news, the annual Scramble For The Course will be on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m.
