Country View hosts 'Scramble for the Course' Sept. 9

Brooks — Recent news from the Country View Golf Club:

On Saturday, Sept. 9, 60 golfers teed off as Country View Golf Club held it's annual "Scramble for the Course" tournament. The event helps financially support the course's operation.

The men's/mixed results (all net scores) included: 1, Jeff Larrabee, Greg Parks, Mark King and Ross DeLorenzo, 57; 2, Dave Thompson, Jack Rogers, Alan Blood and Chad Otis, 59; 3, Dustin Howes, Josh Farrar, Paul Farrar and Steve Miles, as well Patrick Parent, Mike Parent, Cliff Merservy and Cliff Colburn, tied at 60; 5, Scott Dyke, Chris Lougheed, Bo Curtis and Chip Lagerbeam, as well as Doug Merrifield, John Cushman, Keith Todd andGary Snowden, 61; 7, Jim Reny, Jeff Reny, Ron Lewis and Jason Goldman, as well as Donna Nason, Bob McGraw, Don Potter and Linda Potter, and Jeff McCall Sr., Jeff McCall Jr., David Sprowl and Tom Simmons, tied at 62; 10, Ken Blazet, Jim Horan, Dennis Anderson and Jack Pike, as well as Bruce Fields, Ralph Fields, Bruce Steward and Donald Havey, tied at 65; and 12, Bob Hooper, Bob Lee, Bob Patterson and Mike Cunningham, as well as Skip Howard, Theresa Hainer, Rick Levasseur and Norm Poirier, tied 66.

The women's results included: 1, Jean Raven, Sharon Todd, Joette Fields and Judy Arsenault, 65; and 2, Susan Hart, Donna Short, Nancy Carney and Doris Cowell, 68.

The longest drives were hit by Chad Otis for men and Judy Arsenault for women.

The pin winners for men were: Dustin Howes, 5-11 on the fourth hole; and Rick Levasseur, 4-7 on the ninth.

The pin winners for women were: Sharon Todd, 12-8 on the fourth; and Susan Hart, 15-11 on the ninth.

"We appreciate the efforts made by Dave Thompson and the golf board and the Friends of Country View Golf Club for their work the last three years," said Keith Todd, a member of the course. "Many upgrades have been made to the course and it's in great shape".

Thompson thanked donors and sponsors of the tourney, along with club investors, members and players who continue to support the club.

On Friday, Sept. 8, in a women's scramble, Susan Hart, Judy Arsenault and Donna Short finished first at 37, with 14 putts; Judy Hall, Henna Smith and Donna Nason, second at 39, with 11 putts; and Sharon Todd, Joette Fields and Linda Potter, third with a 41, with 15 putts. The pin winners were: Judy Hall, 6-6 on the fourth hole; and Donna Short, 14-1 on the ninth.

The same day in men's league play (points in relation to quota) the top five were: 1, Mike Cunningham, +9; 2, Vince Bryant, +3; 3, John Merry, +1; and 4, Kyle McDonald and Bob Hooper, tied at even. The pin winners were: John Merry, 22-4 on the fourth; and Kyle McDonald, 13-4 on the ninth.

On Sunday, Sept. 10, in a mixed scramble, John Cushman, Gary Snowden and Keith Todd finished first at 33, with 14 putts; Joette Fields, Susan Hart and Sharon Todd finished second at 31, with 12 putts; Gary Birkbeck, Dan Peach, Derek Keller and Mike Phillips finished third at 31, with 13 putts. The pin winners were: Keith Todd, 16-0 on the fourth hole; and Joette Fields, 11-1 on the ninth.
