Course announced for Set the Pace 5K fundraiser

CAMDEN - The Drouthy Bear Set the Pace 5K run and walk will kick off the New Year on a healthy note Monday, Jan. 1. The annual 3.1 mile event will take place at 11:11 a.m. at The Drouthy Bear, 50 Elm St., with registration starting at 10 a.m. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. The event is organized by the non-profit One Community Many Voices.

One Community Many Voices, OCMV, is a 501c(3) charitable organization, located in Rockland. Using a model called: the Art of Good Fellowship – Paying it Forward One Neighbor at a Time – OCMV provides gap funding when no other resources are available to help neighbors in need resolve a hardship related to employment/skill building, youth aspirations, elderly independent living or well-being.

The 5K race is open to all and costs $20 on race day and $18 for those who pre-register. Student registration costs $15 in advance or day of. Preregistration is available online at https://runsignup.com/ME/Camden/TheDrouthyBearSetthePace5K.

The Drouthy Bear Set the Pace 5K will start at The Drouthy Bear (50 Elm St., Camden). From there, runners will turn right onto Wood Street then:
* Right onto Pleasant Street 
* Veer left onto Belmont Avenue and go until end
* Left on to Limerock Street and go straight through the stop sign (be aware of traffic!) towards Bayview. 
* Turn right onto Bayview. Continue to follow Bayview Street as it wraps around all the way until Chestnut Street. 
* Right onto Chestnut Street. 
* Left onto Wood Street at the Do Not Enter sign & finish back near Drouthy Bear.

Prizes will be awarded for the fastest male and female finishers and for the runner who takes on the weather as the least dressed. Mile marker sponsors for the event are 16 Bay View Hotel, Trackside Station restaurant and Doug Curtis Jr., Edward Jones Financial Advisor. Bottled water is sponsored by First National Bank.
