Curtis second, Curry sixth to lead Belfast at Noble Invitational

Lions finish 16th in talent-laden annual tournament

Noble — Belfast finished 16th, while Patrick Curtis placed second at 138 pounds and Chase Curry sixth at 145, on the high school mats on Friday, Dec. 29 at the annual talent-laden Noble Invitational.

120 pounds — Patrick Hanley received a first-round bye; was pinned by Josh Saucier, CH, at 0:33; received bye; pinned Ethan Trubmie, San, at 3:20; and was pinned by Brandon Weston, FA, at 1:56.

126 pounds — Brandon Cournoyer was pinned by Colin Swanson, Winn, at 2:45; received a bye; and was pinned by Rob Pilecki, Noble "C", at 1:32.

138 pounds — Patrick Curtis received a first-round bye; pinned Ethan Penney, San "B", at 0:17; pinned Devin Bickford, Wells, at 1:34; pinned Duncan McGilvery, Noble, at 2:23; and lost by major decision to Caleb Frost, BE, 18-6, in the championship final. Curtis finished second.

145 pounds — Chase Curry received a first-round bye; won by technical fall over Logan Rendell, Noble "B", 17-1; beat Jacob Diamond, FA, 6-1; was pinned by John Grenier, Noble, at 1:00; and was pinned by Noah Hernandez, Mass, at 4:57; and lost to Jacob Arbour, Con, 1-0. Curry finished sixth.

Chris Fournier received a first-round bye; was pinned by Tyler Fitz, BE, at 0:30; pinned Ryan Asselin, Holy, at 2:47; pinned Lexi Witherell, MtA/Brun, at 1:40; and was pinned by Jacob Arbour, Con, at 0:58.

152 pounds — Elijah Charbonnier was pinned by Mathew Beerworth, Noble, at 1:45; received a bye; and was pinned by Chris Pitcher, Noble "B", at 1:31.

160 pounds — David Warren received a first-round bye; was pinned by Alvaro Huezo Coto, Kenn, at 4:33; received a bye; pinned Noah Mauretti, Lasalle, at 1:23 and was pinned by Matt Wixson, MtMan, at 2:28.

182 pounds — Jason Norwood pinned Daniel Bolton, Lis/OH, at 2:48; lost by technical fall to Johnathon Nadeau, Skow, 18-2; pinned Jacob Young, Lasalle, at 2:20; and was pinned by Aaron Lettre, Con, at 2:55.

220 pounds — Brian White was pinned by Mohammad Aljendi, Con, at 3:26; pinned Chris Hanna, San, at 4:43; beat Brennan Boulette, Skow, 4-3; and was pinned by Garrett Gonyea, Sacopee, at 1:33.
