Daily Soup offers pre-packaged soups for delivery

Mar 24, 2020

Belfast — Daily Soup at 118 High St. will start offering quart-sized containers of homemade soups, many of the same ones offered previously, pre-packaged and ready to heat and serve with bread Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, from 3 to 5 p.m.

According to restaurant owner Courtney Sanders, delivery within a three-mile radius of Belfast will be available, or arrangements can be made to pick up at the shop.

"If this goes well, I may add an additional day," she said. "At this time, I will not be offering any special-order menu items, such as greens and beans or sandwiches and there will be no walk-in orders."

She said with inventories scarce everywhere, she must receive orders in advance. "This being the first week of giving this a whirl, I would like to request that orders for Friday and Saturday be placed by Wednesday at noon," she said, "as there is a cutoff time for my supplier’s order requests. I will post the menus for Friday and Saturday on Tuesday, March 24."

Sanders said she has stringent policies in place regarding food safety and has heightened her awareness of food contact and protective safety measures.

"I run this business alone, as you know, so I do not have the added burden of monitoring the wellness and actions of additional employees." she said. "My promise to you is that if I am not feeling well, I will close immediately."

For more information, email Sanders at dailysoup@roadrunner.com or call 930-0304. "Meanwhile, please stay hopeful and healthy," she said. "We are a strong community and will get through this together (but with some love-filled distance)."
