Dawn Desmarais

Aug 07, 2017

Dawn M. Desmarais, beloved mother of Jaden Desmarais, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, following an extended illness. She was 48.

Dawn was born in Middletown, Conn., April 11, 1969, a daughter of the late Alice (Woods) Desmarais and Richard Desmarais of Searsport, who survives her.

She was educated in the Westbrook, Conn., schools and was a 1987 graduate of Westbrook High School. Dawn went on to work in the travel and hospitality industry in New Haven, Conn., and in Florida, where she lived for 15 years.

Nine years ago she relocated to Searsport and became the manager of the Chocolate Drop Candy Shop in Belfast, until her illness forced her retirement.

Dawn was an avid New England Patriots and NASCAR fan. She looked forward to visits with her old friends in Connecticut and Florida, and loved cruising with friends and Jaden. November 2017 was to be her 17th cruise. Most of all, however, she enjoyed goofing around with her son, Jaden. He was her life.

Surviving her, besides her son Jaden and father Richard, is her sister, Tricia Desmarais of Los Angeles; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to Dawn’s Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell, Mass., Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until noon. Her funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Road, Chelmsford, Mass. For directions and condolences, please visit mckennaouellette.com.
