DEADLINE EXTENDED for youth film competition

By The Strand Theatre | Sep 15, 2020

The STRAND YOUTH FILM FEST is an opportunity for young people living in Midcoast Maine and surrounding areas to create and submit their own short films! Entries will now be accepted through October 31.

The decision to extend the deadline was made when the SYFF committee recognized that the filmmaking competition could be used as a curriculum tool this fall by teachers, educators, parents, and homeschoolers looking for a creative remote project for their students. Students can then enter their creations for a chance to win prizes and have their work seen by the community. Strand Education Coordinator Brittany Parker is available to help plan a film project that can tie into any curriculum. Brittany can be contacted at brittany@rocklandstrand.com.

Awards and a public presentation of the films (virtual or in-person, if possible) will take place in the fall of 2020. Prizes will be awarded from a panel of judges, made up of Strand staff and local film professionals.

Looking for a new creative outlet? Want to start a fun fall project? Interested in joining the ranks of other great films presented by the Strand?
