Democrats to caucus locally, statewide March 8

Feb 19, 2020

Waldo County Democrats will caucus Sunday, March 8, within their individual municipalities. Caucus organizers remind those planning to attend that March 8 is the day we “spring ahead” from Eastern Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time.

While the presidential primary March 3 will determine which candidates will get Maine's national convention delegates, the local caucuses around the state will begin the process of choosing the Maine Democrats who will fill the state's national convention delegate seats.

The caucuses also give Democrats a chance to meet local candidates, choose local party leaders and talk about the issues that are important to them in this year's election.

Those not registered to vote or not enrolled in a political party can arrive at their town's caucus early and register to vote or enroll as a Democrat. Anyone who is registered as a Democrat may participate in the caucus.
