District Attorney Natasha Irving will speak on Saturday, May 4, at the Randall Collins VFW Hall at 34 Field Street in Belfast, at an event hosted by the Waldo County Democratic Committee.

District Attorney Irving will address the need for Veterans’ Courts and other issues affecting former service members in Maine. Establishing “problem solving” courts, such as Veterans’ Courts and drug courts, is a cost-effective way to promote rehabilitation and treatment instead of punishment for non-violent offenders.

Irving is the first woman and the first Democrat elected to the District Attorney position in prosecutorial district 6, which includes Lincoln, Knox, Sagadahoc, and Waldo Counties.

District Attorney Irving will speak at 11am. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
