District attorney to speak May 4

Apr 22, 2019

Belfast — District Attorney Natasha Irving will speak Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the Randall Collins VFW Hall, 34 Field St., at an event hosted by the Waldo County Democratic Committee.

Irving will address the need for veterans’ courts and other issues affecting former service members in Maine. Establishing “problem-solving” courts, such as veterans’ courts and drug courts, is a cost-effective way to promote rehabilitation and treatment instead of punishment for non-violent offenders.

The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Irving is the first woman and the first Democrat elected to the district attorney position in prosecutorial District 6, which includes Lincoln, Knox, Sagadahoc and Waldo counties.
