Port Townsend, Wash. — Dorothea Robin Cubberly, age 65, passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ June 19, 2018, after a valiant struggle with brain cancer. She resided in the RoseWind neighborhood in Port Townsend, Wash.

Robin lived in Waldo and Knox counties for more than 25 years until she moved west. Map 14 of the Maine Gazetteer was her roaming ground.

She was born in Houston March 17, 1953, to Dorothea Bishop Noonan and Walter Ellsworth Cubberly Jr., who preceded her in death. Her brother, Walter Ellsworth Cubberly III and her sister Mary Martha Cubberly also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters Catherine Miller (Doug), Candace Womack (Richard), Phoebe Cubberly (Kino Ortiz), Elizabeth Tracy (Chuck), and her brother John Hiram David Cubberly.

Robin would like to be remembered for her loving relationships with her many nieces and nephews, her goddaughter Anna Wind, who was the daughter of her heart, and Debora Waring’s children, Paul Waring (Megan), Anne Koomen (Sean), and Jeremy Eveleth; and grandchildren Quinn Waring, Vita Waring, Torren Waring, Rowan Waring, Janneke Koomen and Emmett Robinson.

Robin was active in the Girl Scouts and continued to keep in touch with many members of Troop 1500. It was almost 50 years ago that she met her best friend, Susan Wallace, at Camp Agnes Arnold in Conroe, Texas. Whenever Robin heard the opening campfire song, "Fire Burning," she thought of the Girl Scouts and the wonderful leaders who served as her role models and mentors.

Robin earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout her career and as clinical director at Ironwood in Morrill, her relationships with colleagues and clients were always based on compassion and honesty.

Robin was an avid gardener and knitter. Her many gardens and knitting projects captured her green thumb, amazing color schemes, and creative heart. As an avid bird watcher, Robin loved to describe their colorful feathers and identify their distinctive calls with friends on their nature walks.

Robin is survived by her devoted partner of 13 years, Debora Waring. They cherished and embraced every day they shared together.

Donations in Robin's memory can be made to the Girl Scouts of America.
