Belfast — A Belfast man was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 11, on parole violations and drug charges after police uncovered a trove of firearms while conducting a parole check.

According to a post on the State Police Headquarters Facebook page, Trevor Cannell, 26, was found seated in a bedroom at a home on Poor's Mill Road with several dangerous weapons nearby. Found in the search were four large fixed-blade knives, three folding knives, a Tee-ball bat, a stun gun flashlight, a brass knuckle stun gun, another stun gun, and pepper spray.

Next to Cannell, troopers found a backpack containing a ski mask, a replica Glock pistol and a club with the inscription "Kill."

Also located in the home was a collection of cut drug straws containing white residue, a pill crusher, a pill canister containing white powder that has not yet been identified, two digital drug scales and 79 8-mg Suboxone strips. He was found to be in possession of the Suboxone.

Cannell was on parole for burglary, robbery and unlawful possession of schedule W drugs out of Missouri and prohibited from possessing or using illegal drugs or misusing prescription drugs. He is also prohibited from using or possessing firearms or dangerous weapons.

Based upon the items located in the home, police arrested Cannell and charged him with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs. He is being held on a parole violation for  possession of his dangerous weapons, misuse of prescription drugs and new criminal conduct.

According to police, Cannell is also a person of interest in an unrelated investigation into a crime of violence where seized weapons were used.
