On Sunday June 9th The Rockland Elks held their annual Flag day ceremony. The day started out with retiring the outside flags. A color guard unit consisting of a representative from the American Legion #1,

Boy Scout Troop 254 of Warren, the Rockland Emblem Club # 200 and the officers of the Rockland Elks #1008. The flagswere replaced with new and properly disposed of.The program moved inside where Elks Member Ed Hasting did an incredible job of reading the history of the flag. Each of the nine flags were carried in by members of the Elks. They were accompanied by music provided by the Midcoast Band under the direction of JoAnne Parker.. An excellent job done by the band..

This was followed by the information of the flag by the officers and member Bill Sawyer.
A reading of the Response was done by lodge secretary Dwayne Guy PSP. This was followed by the ladies of the Emblem Club then did a very ceremonious rendition of folding the American Flag Folding. Frieda Carpenter did the reading as the emblem ladies did the folding.
A prayer from the Elks Chaplain and the Exalted Ruler then closed the program.
