'End Stage' illustrates gift of advance health care planning Jan. 22

Jan 12, 2020

Completing an Advanced Health Care Directive is a gift for you and your family. Are you procrastinating having the conversation? Unsure of how to start?

Come to a performance of “End Stage” with the Palliative Players Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. "End Stage" is presented by the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County with support from the Maine Community Foundation.

Through improvised, unscripted role playing, the players act out possible end-of-life scenarios and conversations. They explore decisions and wishes that might arise in a health crisis at the end of life, and offer suggestions for talking with loved one.

After the performance, Hospice Volunteers will walk you through the advance directive and some of the common sticking points. You will have a chance to ask questions and learn how to get started filling out your advance directive.

A full program on completing the Advanced Health Care Directive will take place Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1 to 3 p.m. in the library's Abbott Room.

Both programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 10.
