Elephants, clowns, chalk and more are in store Saturday, Oct. 7, in Belfast.

Belfast — The 38th annual Church Street Festival will start with the MythWeaver Theater Parade to the Crosby Center, 96 Church St., kicking off a day of family fun around the city Saturday, Oct. 7.

Parade prep is at 10 a.m. at Mary Weaver's barn, 49 High St., and will step off shortly before 11 a.m. This year’s theme is Digital Realities. Volunteers, participants and well wishers are all invited, and snacks and beverages will be available. For more information on participating in the parade contact Weaver at 338-5777 or mary.playhouse@gmail.com.

Crosby Center will host festival fun from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family activities will include a jump house, face painting and the traditional street mandala. DJ Denis Howard will bring on the music, plus there will be a Win-A-Cake Walk contest with five fabulous homemade cakes as prizes, as well as a youth art exhibit. This event is sponsored by the Midcoast Performing Arts Initiative. For more about the organization and the Crosby Center, visit CrosbyCenter.live.

The family fun will move to the waterfront at 2 p.m. with a Chalk Walk at Heritage Park. Everyone is invited to come watch professional artists working on reserved squares of blacktop and then try their own hand, as there will be plenty of chalk for all to add designs to the community pathway. In the case of bad weather, drawing fun will take place at Waterfall Arts, 256 High St. For more information on the Chalk Walk, check the event section of waterfallarts.org.

All these events are free and open to the public.
